“HANDS ON LEARNING”
WHAT DOES IT MEAN?
Children learn in many ways, a concept some do not understand.
Children learn by exploring, touching, feeling, and experimenting.
Through play they will begin to develop all the skills and concepts they will need before entering Kindergarten.*

Infants, toddlers, and school-aged children need individualized care by people who know them well and are committed to their development and happiness…
…which is exactly the quality care your child will receive from this responsible, energetic, loving, and devoted provider. I am a wife, a proud mother of three grown children, and a doting grandmother to four amazing little ones. I would love to open my EEC Licensed home to you and your child. In my home, we provide a separate childcare area, with a recently remodeled entryway, a large recently updated playroom/learning space, separate nursery/sleeping area for infants and younger children, and an AMAZING fenced-in playground with age-appropriate play spaces.
At Dependable Kid Care, we take a “Learning Through Play” approach to childcare and offer “Hands On Learning”. It’s back to the basics here at Dependable Kid Care; we play, communicate, and solve problems together. I speak clearly to the children to encourage proper speech. We describe the basic things around us to encourage recognition of letters, numbers, colors, shapes, etc. There is a lot of emphasis on the basics, manners, sharing, empathy, being a good friend, responsibility, and respect, both for themselves and others. I encourage them to work with others to learn relationship building skills. DKC is like a home away from home and the DKC Kids are like family, I love and nurture and lead by example. I've created an environment that encourages experiential learning, fostering the development of social & emotional skills, healthy self-esteem, growth & development, cognition, and creativity. A natural development of gross motor skills is promoted by allowing freedom of movement at the child's own pace and readiness. Children learn by exploring, touching, feeling, and experimenting. My goal is to take the interests of the children and base learning around that. These methods have proven to be beneficial to the children that have been through my program.

Is Family Childcare right for your child?
Centers and Home Daycares follow the same State Regulations, some may offer similar preschool curriculum and learning opportunities. However there are things that separate a center from a home.
* There may be less structure in a Family Childcare Home - Because we offer “Learn through Play” and “Hands on Learning” my program is far more relaxed than centers. This also means we can spend more time on subjects that really peak the children’s interest.
* There may be more free play in a Family Childcare Home - With the varying ages and abilities that attend our program, structured learning is not possible at all times, the older children will be offered free play in order to feed their imagination and spark creativity, while the infants and younger children receive their one-on-one time.
* There will be small groups and friends like family – There will never be more than 10 daycare children in my home at one time and the “teachers” are always the same, unlike centers that can sometimes have a hard time finding dedicated teachers, I have been doing this for over 27 years and my assistant has been with us for over 6 years…we are all like family here at DKC.
* There will be older and younger children as well as children with varying needs - Family Childcare Homes are generally run by one provider and perhaps an assistant, however, this means infants and toddlers are not separated by age and children are not separated by ability.
With my program you and your child will get the best of both worlds:
* Your child will receive individual attention in a small group setting.
* Your child will learn social skills and manners.
* Your child will have both structured time and free play to feed their imagination and spark creativity.
* Your child will learn both independence and independent thinking, as well as being a responsible member of a group and a “good friend” to others.
* Your child is only little for a short while (it truly goes by too fast) here at DKC we allow children to be children, just a little bit longer…while they will be fully prepared for Kindergarten when they leave us, they will get to enjoy our “Learning through Play” program; they have the rest of their lives to sit at a desk and fill out worksheets…"kids being kids", is a very important concept to us here at DKC.
* You will get peace of mind at a reasonable price - your child will always receive the individualized care and attention he/she needs from loving, nurturing providers.
